Association membership

Caja Madrid maintains close links with other national and international institutions and agencies in which governing body members play an active role in representation of its interests.

  • European Alliance

Caja Madrid has subscribed to the “European Alliance for CSR” set up by the European Commission as a vehicle to disseminate CSR ideas and practices among European enterprises. Among other initiatives, Caja Madrid participated in the RARE survey promoted by the EU's Research Department, and was the sole Spanish financial institution selected in the best practice categories of “equal opportunities” and “practices to combat bribery and corruption”.
  • Club Excelencia en Gestión

This organisation, to which Caja Madrid has belonged since 1998, champions the implementation of the EFQM management excellence model among Spanish companies and institutions.
  • CECA

As a savings bank, Caja Madrid belongs to the Confederación Española de Cajas de Ahorros (CECA), and takes an active part in all discussion forums and the pooling of best-practice solutions. It has participated in three working groups on CSR matters: Best environmental practices, CSR prescribers and Review of sectoral report. It is also on the new sectoral committee for CSR which will act as a forum for information exchange and a platform for joint projects and initiatives.
  • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)

Our Corporate Social Responsibility report has been prepared in accordance with GRI guidelines, an internationally recognised reference for measuring and informing about companies’ socially responsible activities. All previous CSR Reports have merited the GRI “in accordance” category, the maximum distinction for sustainability reporting.

It also maintains institutional relations with a number of charitable organisations (Fundación Cruz Roja, Fundación de Ayuda contra la Drogadicción, etc), cultural associations (Fundación Pro Real Academia Española, Asociación de Amigos del Museo del Prado, Asociación de Amigos del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza) and academic bodies (Fundación General de la Universidad de Alcalá, Fundación General de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, etc.).
