Caja Madrid works to a universal banking model geared to satisfying the needs of its 7.1 million individual and business customers, whom it addresses with a comprehensive range of high-quality personalised services. Its activity spans every area of the banking business, combining a solid presence in commercial banking with eminent positions in investment banking, private banking and specialist financial services which it engages in directly or through the Finance Corporation.

It offers an array of financial solutions to individual and business clients, with main product lines as follows: savings products, loans, payment cards, pension plans, mutual funds, insurance policies and securities. Its investment banking wing offers institutional clients a series of dedicated products and services, featuring bilateral and syndicated loans, bond underwriting and placement, project finance, commercial credit, treasury lines, guarantees, interest rate protection, advisory services and appraisal services (Caja Madrid business activity).

Internationally, the Group is an active player in high-potential international markets through its Lisbon, Miami and Dublin branches, and direct investments like its equity stake in Mexican SOFOL Hipotecaria Su Casita.

As a supplement to its banking activity, the Group holds a diversified range of investments in strategic sectors, among them: Mapfre-Caja Madrid Holding, Realia, Iberia, Indra and NH Hoteles.

The social dimension of its activity is addressed through the projects and programmes run by Obra Social Caja Madrid and Fundación Caja Madrid. A total of €226.2 million was spent in 2007 on programmes and activities in the areas of social welfare, education, culture, the environment and the conservation of Spain’s historical heritage.
