Caja Madrid makes a special effort to involve its professionals in social action initiatives to foster voluntary working and a keener responsiveness to the social necessities of the day.

  • Staff collections

The moment a disaster occurs, staff are invited to contribute funds to a special current account, with the proceeds being distributed among NGOs working on the ground. Follow-up calls for funds also go out every three months.
  • "Project yourself”

A call for ideas and projects to build awareness on social issues like the integration of immigrants, the right of disabled people or Alzheimer’s sufferers, prevention of domestic violence, etc. The contest is organised through the Obra Social Caja Madrid portal, and aimed at professionals, customers and the engaged public.
  • Volunteer information point

This service is designed to advise each volunteer or potential volunteer on the kind of activity or non profit organisation they are looking for, and which ones are currently in need of temporary or permanent volunteers.
  • Fair trade store

Selling ethically manufactured items from producer communities in Africa, South America and Asia as part of the campaign to ensure all people a decent future and to support fair trade practices.
  • Publicising of Obra Social, Fundación and Sponsorship activities

A programme giving internal publicity to Obra Social, Fundación and Sponsorship activities, so staff and their families can get actively involved.
  • Internal communication

All issues of in-house magazine La Caja feature articles about employees' voluntary work experience, including calls for support and contact details.
