Security in ATMs
The following features have been incorporated to improve ATM security:
- Lighting devices that clearly signal the card insert slot.
- Secure keypad entry system.
- Privacy screens.
- Use of machine-specific codes.
- Sensors for the detection of possible card-copying devices.
- Re-entry of PIN numbers at the final stage of cash withdrawals.
- Data control mechanisms, so each time a card is used its numbering is changed.
- SMS message to customers confirming card transactions or alerting to suspected fraudulent use.
- Recording cameras at all cash points.
- Sensor and alarm control of front-door opening.
