Staff training and awareness
Good environmental management is all about the people working in an organisation, which is why Caja Madrid assigns a key place to environmental awareness and training.
A total of 168 training hours were organised in 2007 for professionals with direct responsibility for environmental management, and a new e-learning package is under development to instruct employees on the environmental variables critical for our Organisation and their role in dealing with them.
Environmental awareness actions form part of a broader training and internal communication plan on environment matters, to cascade the Caja Madrid Group culture through all levels of the Organisation. The following awareness actions were carried out in 2007:
- Creation of a personalised space for Group Environmental Management in the corporate intranet.
- Preparation and distribution of the handbook “Good Environmental Practices at Home”, for employees and their families wishing to adopt a more ecological lifestyle.
- Design of environmental panels displaying awareness messages.
- Awareness campaigns via the corporate intranet to encourage energy and water saving, and good waste management habits in the workplace.
- Design and dissemination of material publicising world environmental days through the corporate intranet and internal newsletters.
The corporate intranet continues to host multimedia briefing session dealing with Caja Madrid’s environmental charter, the responsible consumption of resources and the dos and don’ts of waste management. These virtual classroom pages attracted 20,328 visits in 2007.
