Online leave coverage

The idea

A pool of supply staff to cover urgent, short-term needs arising in the Madrid branch network due to staff leave or sickness. This pool currently comprises around 200 persons.

The aims of the project are:

  • To provide coverage to the greatest possible number of branches.
  • To mitigate the negative impact of day-to-day incidents in the branch network.
  • To offer a service that is flexible both geographically and in terms of time.

The kinds of leave or absence for which coverage can be supplied are:

  • Sick leave/temporary disability.
  • Leave for serious family illness.
  • Leave for death in the family.
  • Marriage leave.
  • Birth or nursing leave.
  • Trade union facility time.

Results

A total of 15,441 coverage services were provided in 2007.

The Online Leave Coverage System has been awarded the Expansión y Empleo Prize for Human Resources Innovation.
