Association membership

Caja Madrid maintains close links with other national and international institutions and organisations in which the members of its governing bodies play an active role in representation of the Group's interests.

  • European Alliance: Caja Madrid has subscribed to the “European Alliance for CSR” set up by the European Commission as a vehicle to disseminate corporate social responsibility ideas and practices among European enterprises. In this group, Caja Madrid has participated in sharing best practices in the equal opportunity and environmental areas.
  • Club Excelencia en Gestión: This organisation, to which Caja Madrid has belonged since 1998, champions the implementation of the EFQM management excellence model among Spanish companies and institutions.
  • CECA: As a savings bank organised as a "caja de ahorros", Caja Madrid belongs to the Confederación Española de Cajas de Ahorros (CECA), and takes an active part in all discussion forums and the pooling of best practices. In the sector CSR committee, it has participated in drawing up the Green Paper on CSR in the Financial Sector, an analysis of the current landscape and possible future scenarios regarding the financial industry's contribution to social responsibility.
  • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI): Our Social Responsibility Report has been prepared in accordance with GRI guidelines, an internationally recognised framework for measuring and informing about companies’ socially responsible activities. This particular report has obtained the A+ seal, the highest distinction for SR reports and an endorsement of the scale and scope of its contents.
  • European Savings Banks Group (ESBG): Caja Madrid has endorsed the ESBG “Charter for Responsible Business” and the “Resolution: towards a greener savings and retail banking sector”, promoted by the ESBG, strengthening our commitment and participation in studies to share good practices in Europe.
  • Foro Pro Clima: Caja Madrid is a member of Foro Pro Clima, an initiative of the Madrid City Council to spearhead and stimulate private sector efforts to fight air pollution in the Madrid Region. These joint efforts include a line of credit offering advantageous terms to Madrid businesses for capital expenditure aimed at reducing CO2 emissions, as well as participation in the “Guide to good environmental practices in the office” and the related initiatives carried out by the forum.

It also maintains institutional relations with a number of charitable organisations (Fundación Cruz Roja, Fundación de Ayuda contra la Drogadicción, etc), cultural associations (Fundación Pro Real Academia Española, Asociación de Amigos del Museo del Prado, Asociación de Amigos del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza) and academic institutions (Fundación General de la Universidad de Alcalá, Fundación General de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, etc.).
