Selection

The aim of personnel selection at Caja Madrid is to find the right candidates for the competencies profile developed for each job. This is done through selection procedures and scoring of personal tests that ensure objective assessment and hence equal opportunity.

As part of its 2010 Strategic Plan, Caja Madrid embarked at the start of the year on an intensive selection process that has led to the recruitment of 1,100 new professionals, expanding the Group by a net total of more than 500 persons.

Caja Madrid was named a Top Company to Work For in 2008 by the Corporate Research Foundation (CRF), an international organisation that rates firms in different countries for their human resources excellence according to five criteria: work atmosphere and culture, employment conditions and benefits, talent development, commitment to society and innovation effort.

Caja Madrid also runs an internship programme, designed to build closer ties between the business and academic worlds. Interns are given the opportunity to gain work experience through a tutored placement adapted to their academic and career interests.

A total of 390 students (272 in the Madrid Region and 118 in other Spanish regions) completed internships in 2008, some 11% more than the previous year. Placement conditions were made more flexible so they fit better with students' academic calendars, and they can now be completed any time of the year with a maximum duration of six months.

The internship programme has also proved a rich seam for recruiting future Caja Madrid professionals. More than 7% of the individuals who completed their internships with Caja Madrid during the year went on to join the Group at the end of the programme.
