Assessment of occupational hazards

This is the starting point and a core component of the occupational hazards prevention system. The system features an in-house methodology for evaluating each work centre with checklists to cover all positions and working conditions. Some 499 workplaces were evaluated in 2008.

Every year checks are run on a sampling of centres to ensure that any hazards detected are being correctly managed, and to ascertain whether any new hazards have emerged as a result of modifications to sites, equipment, workflow organisation or workstation conditions.

Accidents at work are carefully documented and investigated to determine their causes, so measures can be proposed and taken to prevent their recurrence.
