These initiatives were aimed at improving primary healthcare, basic sanitation, education, promoting productivity and enhancing revenue-generating capabilities, with 50% of these programmes benefiting the most vulnerable social groups, women and children in particular.
Emergency Aid Plan
Obra Social’s other cooperation resource, the Emergency Aid Plan, continued its partnerships with Bomberos Unidos sin Fronteras, Acción contra el Hambre, Médicos del Mundo and, as new ally in 2008 in the response to humanitarian crises, Intermón Oxfam. Since the plan was first started,
aid has gone to more than 40 countries in the form of rescue and evacuation, provision of drinking water and sanitation, and basic nutritional, health and food safety assistance for the victims of natural and other catastrophes.
