Report content

To ensure this report effectively covers the issues and indicators that reflect our main social, economic and environmental impacts, we have taken into account the information obtained from stakeholder groups (listed in the Caja Madrid Social Responsibility System) through the established dialogue channels, external regulations and standards applicable to financial institutions and our organisation’s mission, vision, values and strategy.

In 2008 a review was conducted of the materiality project executed in 2007 to detect the most important stakeholders concerns that should be addressed in the report. Toward this end the following lines of investigation have been taken into account:

  • A study analysing the pacesetters in corporate social responsibility, in and out of the financial industry, and sector and social opinion leaders, accompanied by continuous monitoring of the press for related news.
  • Materiality study by the CSR sector committee of the Confederación Española de Cajas de Ahorros (CECA), with the active participation of Caja Madrid as a leading member.

In addition to the above analyses, our outreach efforts with customer stakeholders featured the inclusion of questions in opinion surveys and diverse meetings in relation to their needs and expectations in the social responsibility area. Read more on CSR and Caja Madrid

Also, four years ago Caja Madrid set up a permanent steering committee whose mission is to promote social responsibility projects within the organisation and to draw up the Social Responsibility Report. This group, which draws its members from organisational units interfacing with stakeholders, is guided in its work by the conclusions obtained through stakeholder dialogue channels.

The organisational units represented in the group are listed below:
